Biographical sketch: Diego Pallini Gervasi graduated in Pharmacy at the University of Milan in 1985, with a thesis on patent coverage for pharmaceutical products in Italy. In 1986 he joined the Notarbartolo & Gervasi group, becoming a partner in 1988. In 1989 he became an Italian patent and trademark attorney. During the period 1991-1994 he organised and taught on a yearly course for experts in intellectual property, lecturing on the technical problems in biological, pharmaceutical and chemical fields. During the same period he was also European correspondent for the American monthly magazine World Intellectual Property Report. From the early 1990s, he has regularly held training courses on industrial property, run by the Convey (Consortium for technology transfer) organisation. In recent years he has regularly lectured on courses organised by the University of Milan, in particular by the university's institutes of chemistry, pharmacy, physics and electronics. During 1988-1999 he was a member of the teaching staff for chemical patents as part of the Master in Industrial Chemistry course at the University of Milan. At the same university, he lectures on biotechnology patents. Since 1997 he has been a lecturer in chemical patents on courses to qualify as Italian patent attorneys. He has written over twenty publications, and has presented papers at over fifty seminars, conferences and courses on intellectual property. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences in Italy and abroad on matters of patents, biotechnology, patent strategies and the safeguarding of intellectual property. Diego Pallini Gervasi is currently chairman of the Notarbartolo & Gervasi company and the 100%-owned subsidiary N&G Consulting, as well as a partner in N&G Patent Services. His wide-ranging experience of intellectual property in various sectors makes him an esteemed authority, assisting clients with all problems relating to intellectual property as well as other management and business areas.
